Rock art in Straid (straid Ed)

A stone (now apparently lost) formerly located along the roadside, said to have been 2ft 6in square with from 25 to 30 cupmarks on it. There is said to have been a second similar stone nearby (M. R. Colhoun). Situated in generally rough pasture. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. Likely dating to the Neolithic or Bronze Age, the stone is thought to have had ritual or astronomical significance, as suggested by its cupmarked design, which is commonly associated with ceremonial practices in prehistoric Britain. Local tradition or folklore connected to the stone is not recorded.
