What is recorded here
Glanmakee is a rocky mountain pasture in County Kerry where people once marked stones as money or fairy places. Three of those stones are still named in local memory, though none has reappeared for modern cameras. The valley drops away beneath you, and the missing stones become easy to believe: perhaps they rolled under scree, or perhaps they stopped being visible when the idea of fairy money faded.
For descriptive account see O'Sullivan and Sheehan (1996, 96, no. 325).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

In rough and rocky mountain pasture (c. 260m OD), which is drained by a number of streams that run SW to the Caragh river. Directly overlooking Bridia valley to S and SW and Caragh river valley further to W. Overlooked by higher ground WNW->N->SE and Bealdarrig mountain to S. Ó Cíobháin records three 'money/fairy stones' - terms used locally to describe rock art - in the N half of the townland (1971, 132-3). The first stone (KE072-013----) is located ‘close to 100 yards’ (c. 92m) from the W boundary of the townland’; the second stone (KE072-013001-) is near a sheepfold in the NE area of the townland; the third stone (KE072-013002-) is to E, toward the gap (An Bhearna) (ibid). These could not be located.
