What is recorded here

Coolasnaghta holds a triangular slab where shallow cupmarks and two X marks still appear beside plough scars. The stone survives in County Carlow not as a polished monument but as a bruised fragment of older sight. Someone cut or wore those shapes into rock before fields turned the landscape into motion. They are small enough to overlook and old enough to refuse forgetting.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 16 April 2009 Triangular slab (0.85m x 0.82m x T 0.32m). Uneven decorated surface, now damaged by plough marks. Shallow decorations including at least four cup and circles, two X's and several cupmarks.
