Carrickmines Great holds three small boulders marked with cupmarks, hidden beside the South-Eastern Motorway until road works exposed them. One slightly rounded granite stone carries four definite marks and two possible ones, arranged loosely across a triangular face. People may have set drinks, oils or memories into that rock long before cars passed, but the motorway nearly erased the place where they lived.

This is one of three small boulders (DU026-145/146----) containing cup-marks which were discovered during archaeological investigations on the route of the South-Eastern Motorway (Clinton 2002, 87; 2004, 131). Rock C described by Dr Muriris O'Sullivan as a; 'Slightly rounded granite boulder (01E0364:45). This was a surface find from the adjoining Site 19. Four definite and two possible cupmarks occur on the slightly convex surface of the main face, triangular in outline and measuring 0.93m x 0.84m, which has a fault line to one side. One of the cupmarks, occurring on this fault line and conceivably natural, is technically regarded as a possible example. This is one of three cupmarks extending in a line parallel to the side of the stone. The remaining three examples appear to be arranged more loosely' (Breen 2012, 397).
