Robert Prescott Stewart

Robert Prescott Stewart transformed Dublin into a musical capital because he refused to leave either cathedral or classroom empty. He sat at the organ in Christ Church and St. Patrick's, directed university choirs, taught Trinity College and the Royal Irish Academy, and still invented music fast enough to fill them. His pride made him destroy much of what he wrote, but the lessons lived on in students who carried his discipline across Britain and Ireland.
