Attached three-bay two-storey lighthouse keeper’s house, built 1847. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls with ashlar plinth. Square-headed openings with six-over-over timber sliding sash windows and stone sills. Timber battened door approached by flight of steps.

This house was designed by Commissioner for Irish Lights inspector, George Halpin, to accommodate keepers for the adjoining lighthouse. In the early twentieth century additional keepers' dwellings were built on the mainland at Castletownbere. Set in a remote location, the complex is a testament to Halpin's excellent design and the high quality construction which was undertaken by Mr Howard of Limerick more than one hundred and fifty years ago.
