Road

Originally recorded as a band of small brushwood exposed at the top of both drain faces, and a band of roundwood and brushwood in the E drain face. The rods were tightly packed with a compact, regular arrangement (Dunne 1999, 16, 99DR0007A and 99DR0008A). Excavation in 2001 revealed these to be one togher (exposed L 4m; Wth 2.2m) that originated in the Neolithic (3516-3383 BC). The remains comprised brushwood, twigs and roundwood fragments. The roundwood fragments were laid down upon the twigs and brushwood, which were mostly orientated NW-SE. The roundwood was orientated E-W (Whitaker 2009, 17).
