No tree remains, only a flat river-meadow in County Offaly where trenches cut in 1934-5 found nothing east of the line between the Holy Tree and the knoll. The absence is the shape of the place: a ritual mark lost to soil and time, yet still named in survey and memory. What vanished may have been a shadow, a belief, or a life lived around a trunk now gone.

No surface remains of a Holy Tree described in 1934-5 by T. D. Kendrick as 'Nothing was found in the trenches cut in the flat river-meadow east of a line between the Holy Tree and the knoll and nothing on the western side of the drive' (Kendrick 1939, 2).
