Rene Gilmartin, born in Dublin in 1987, stands six feet five inches tall and still guards the nets at Ipswich Town. He left Malahide United for Walsall in 2005, then drifted through loans at Worcester City, Hednesford Town, Yeovil Town and Crawley Town before settling at Plymouth Argyle and Colchester United. His career moved like a keeper under pressure: backing up, traveling, waiting, reappearing. Now he teaches other keepers how to hold the line.
