This bronze commemorative plaque records: The Valentine Lamp Linking the romance of gaslight with a George V posting box, artwork and setting depict the Valentine theme. Reg Ling salvaged, restored and adapted the old column originally on Catherine Hill, where a plaque is set. The site received dedication and blessing by the Mayor and Frome Council of Churches Chairman on 14th. Feb. 1993 Lamplighting ceremony on Valentine Day. Dedication Let the lighting of this lamp today, the 14th. Feb. 1993 dedicate this site forever to St. Valentine, patron and protector of all who find love, regardless of race, creed or gender.
Reg Ling was a local craftsman in Frome known for his restoration work; he salvaged and adapted an old gaslight column into the Valentine Lamp, creating a romantic landmark dedicated to St. Valentine that highlights the town's history and artistic heritage.
