Detached single-bay single-storey signal box, built c. 1880, now disused. Pitched slate roof with timber finial and brick chimneystack. Timber battened and Flemish bond brick walls. Window openings with render sills, now blocked up. Door opening, now blocked up.

A large number of utilitarian structures were erected to provide services for the railway networks in Ireland, including warehouses, signal boxes and water towers. Such structures were deemed important enough to warrant careful design and good quality materials were often used in their construction. This former signal box forms part of a group with the surviving railway station and platforms. The architectural form of this functional structure is enhanced by features such as the external chimneystack and timber finial to roof.
