1798 Memorial is a memorial in County Wexford, Ireland. Perhaps the stone still holds the heat of young bodies that ran toward London troops instead of fleeing. Maybe a woman tied a red ribbon to her wrist before walking into the volley and never returned. Imagine the grass pressing flat under hundreds of feet while the memorial waits silent for names the state forgot to write.
Erected to the memory of the United Irishmen and women of the Bannow / Ballymitty area who fought and died in the rebellion of 1798.
