William Huskisson (1770–1830) STATESMAN lived here
William Huskisson was a prominent British statesman and a key figure in the development of early railway transport, best known for being the first recorded person to be killed by a train. He served as Chancellor of the Exchequer and was a strong advocate for infrastructure and economic reform.
