What is recorded here
This corn mill is mentioned as follows in the Strafford Inquisition of Co. Mayo undertaken in 1635-37: 'the tucking-mill [MA111-011001-] and corn-mill of Castlekeele,…with the house, under lands, commons, etc. for £16st.' (O' Sullivan 1958, 109). These watermills are likely to have been located in the N end of the Castlemagarretpark New townland in the vicinity of Castlekeel castle (MA111-016----) and house (MA111-014002-) which are located on the N bank of the Robe River, however, no remains of the mills have been found and their precise location is unknown.
