In rough pasture, on an E-facing slope overlooking Lough Inchiquin and the valley of the Cloonee River. This standing stone (0.4m x 0.25m; H 1.1m) is orientated NW-SE and leans to the NW. Three boulder-burials (KE101-025003-, KE101-025005-, KE101-025006-) lie 2m to the NE. (Twohig 1987, 115) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Probably dating to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, this standing stone may have had a ritual or funerary function, given its proximity to boulder-burials. Its orientation and position overlooking the landscape may reflect symbolic or ceremonial significance related to water and the surrounding terrain.
