What is recorded here
Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. It is an artificial island, often built of stone, wood and soil, raised above wet land so people could live, keep animals or store what mattered when the surrounding ground would not hold them. The name gives no further shape, but the form is clear: a small made land where human hands answered water with structure.
