Situated on a low ridge running NW-SE, in pasture, with good views of the surrounding landscape. Ringfort (WM030-043----) lies c. 120m to NW. Annotated ‘fort’ on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and depicted as an oval-shaped tree-planted enclosure. Depicted on the revised 1910 ed. OS 25-inch map as a subrectangular-shaped earthwork. Levelled monument described in 1973 as no surface remains visible. Levelled monument is visible today as a vague outline of a subrectangular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe aerial photography. A fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Tullaghanshanlin is a circular earthwork enclosure typical of early-medieval Ireland, likely dating to between the 5th and 10th centuries AD. It is associated with local folklore regarding fairies and other supernatural beings, common in Irish tradition for such sites.
