Tower Hill Grave Yard and Vault

In rolling grassland on a break between two N-S terraces on a W-facing slope. A burial ground (14m E-W; 15m N-S) enclosed by a low bank (H 0.3-0.5m) with a vault built of mortared walling in the N end of the interior. A slab on top of the vault commemorates Terrence Nowland and is dated 1770. A second slab, lying flat on the ground, is dated 1814(?). Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 11 June 2013

Medieval burial ground and vault; dates to the late medieval period (13th–16th century). Its construction with mortared walling indicates a formal Christian burial site, possibly associated with a local family or community of some status.
