What is recorded here

Thirty-two metres of water-rolled stone still jut into Muckross Lake, though half the quay has slipped beneath the surface. It is a broken tongue of human making, wide enough for carts or boats, now feeding the lake instead of resisting it. Whatever hurry built it has vanished; only the angle of its axis remains, pointing NW-SE like a forgotten instruction. The water keeps what the air forgot.
