What is recorded here

Gallán is a leaning oval stone on a Cork pasture knoll, visible in every direction but absent from the 1842 survey. It stands half a metre deep and a metre and a half tall, tilted north with its long edge running northeast to southwest. A place high enough to watch weather, herds or visitors suggests people valued that view, perhaps marking a boundary, a meeting point or a remembered event. The stone does not explain itself; it waits beside the grass like a sentence interrupted.
