What is recorded here

Indicated is a small circular crannog in Cuillaghan Lough, County Cavan, sitting about 150m from the shore. Hall dug into its central mound and uncovered ashes, coarse black pottery sherds, quernstone fragments, broken bones and a grooved stone, while an oak dugout canoe lay on the southeast shore. The island may have been a busy seasonal kitchen, a trading stop or a forgotten home, but its debris leaves no doubt people lived there, ate there and left behind the ordinary residue of life.

Hall recorded digging into a mound at the centre of the island and finding a substantial bed of ashes and debris incorporating coarse black sherds of pottery, fragments of quernstones, large quantities of broken bones and a grooved stone.
