Two shallow quarry pits at the southeast edge of the rath in Tiravera may have been hut sites because rotary quern fragments appeared there during the 1927 investigation. If so, people lived beside the main earthwork rather than inside it, grinding grain close enough to hear activity in the larger place. The pits survived as ordinary holes while the huts disappeared, leaving a small domestic shadow at the edge of a grander monument.

Located at the SE edge of rath (MO010-001001-). Two relict quarry pits might be interpreted as hut-sites where fragments of rotary querns were found in the investigation of the rath conducted in 1927 (Macalister 1928). Date of revised upload: 26 January 2018
