Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a levelled fairy fort in County Cork, reduced to a shallow circular depression twenty-seven metres across on a west-facing pasture slope. Power recorded it as partially destroyed in 1918, but human arrogance or forgotten treaty may have completed the erasure. The land keeps its shape while pretending not to remember the hands that broke it.
In pasture, on W-facing slope. Power (1918, 204) records 'partially destroyed' ringfort. Levelled; shallow circular depression (26.9m N-S) now marks site. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
