What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog, which means it is an artificial island built in a lake or marsh. It stands in County Cavan, Ireland. The facts do not say when it was made, who lived there, or what remains visible today. A crannog is usually a small round platform of stone, wood and soil, reached by a causeway or boat. People may have kept animals, stored food or hidden from danger there. The lake would have closed around the island at night, leaving only a narrow path back to the land.
