STANDING STONE in Straid

STANDING STONE

What is recorded here

Straight up from the Straid earth, the stone still stands where no human hand shaped it. It has watched fields change, storms pass and forgetfulness come and go. A person may have struck it in darkness or leaned against it in joy, but that much has slipped away. The stone keeps its shape while memory thins.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE. Recorded period: UNCERTAIN; PREHISTORIC. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
