Robert Adam designed Airthrey Castle in 1791 for Robert Haldane, creating a neoclassical jewel on the edge of Airthrey Loch. The Graham family later expanded its gardens, while wounded soldiers recovered inside its walls during the second world war. Today the University of Stirling occupies the estate, turning private grandeur into shared learning. The building still watches the water, carrying every change without losing its shape.
