What is recorded here

Seven feet of stone stood in a Cork field until people broke it and carried it away. That much is known. What is lost is the reason they wanted it gone and the sound it made when it fell.

One of two stones (10014) recorded by Bowman (1934, 256) on T. Kelleher's land; 'This was broken and removed, it was c. 7ft high'. Breaking of stone still recollected locally. Exact location not known but it is known to have stood in field to SW of Nadbeg Bridge. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
