Standing stone in Dromavally (corkaguiny By.)

The 'Gallaun' marked on the OS maps, c. 450m SW of KE044-013----, no longer survives. It was '7 feet (2.1m) high'(OSM). At approximately the same location there is a long, low and densely overgrown mound of earth and stones, with several large, possible kerb stones along the perimeter. It measures at least 14m E-W, and is 10m wide and .8m high at the W end decreasing in both width and height towards the E. A depression is visible on the upper surface. The small cairn of stones to SW of its W end may simply be the result of field clearance. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey.
