Ring-ditch in Sliguff

Ring-ditch

What is recorded here

Ring-ditch in Sliguff is a buried circular ditch visible only when dry soil and growing grass render its shape as a faint dark line above the field. It belongs to County Carlow, Ireland, and it is one of two nearby ring-ditches, suggesting the land once held more than a single ceremonial or domestic marker. The ditch may have surrounded a small building, a meeting place, or a boundary drawn for reasons now lost. Its continuity across the landscape depends on people still seeing what the soil remembers.
Aerial photograph (GB96.GF.06) shows cropmark of a ring-ditch; one of two ring-ditches located in close proximity (see also CW019-117----).
