What is recorded here
Skeagh holds a rath, an earthwork built by human hands during the later Iron Age. It is not a new invention or a modern decoration. The land remembers the shape of a defended life, perhaps a farm, perhaps a small community that watched the valley and kept its own boundary.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
