What is recorded here

Castle is a lost castle in Simmonstown, County Kildare. It stood in level pasture with much of its structure still visible when last described, then fire and removal erased its surface around 1980. Whatever remains is buried beneath grass and memory now.

Recorded in the OSL (Herity 2002, 9) as, '… a Castle in ruins, of which a great part is remaining.' On level pasture. The ruins were burnt c. 1980 and subsequently removed, leaving no visible surface trace of the monument (SMR file). Some sub-surface features may, however, survive.
