What is recorded here

Crannog in Shanco, County Fermanagh, Ireland: an artificial island dwelling or platform, often timber and earth, built among wetlands or lakes. People lived, worked and kept animals there, using water as a boundary and road. The name Crannog points to a made island, not a natural bump. In Shanco, the water would have carried life and danger in equal measure.
