Settlement deserted

Unlocated settlement within townland, described in the OS letters as 'Traditionalists say that there was a town at Slety, the extent of which they pretend to be able to point out, but it is very hard to depend on them, though I have no doubt that Slety was one time a village' (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 2, p. 13). Possibly there was an earlier settlement in the modern village of Graigue, as described by Feehan as ; The town of Graigue is esentially one long street extending for about a kilometer parallel tot he west bank of the Barrow.
