RATH in Sessiagh East, County Fermanagh. A rath is a fortress, a ring of stone or earth built to keep out what hunts in the dark. It stands in Fermanagh, where the land is old enough to remember every promise broken and kept. The name survives though the shape may have vanished, which means the fortress still works. Resistance is a rath. Memory is a rath. Even forgogetting is a rath, because it refuses to release you.
