What is recorded here

Old Castleton was a medieval farmstead in the Scottish Borders, its stone remains still marked on the national record. It is easy to picture people moving through that small settlement, tending land and sharing the risks of border life. The exact character of the house and yard has faded, but the name preserves a human presence that shaped the landscape long before modern roads arrived.
