What is recorded here

Castleton Muir holds a medieval long cist, a narrow chamber built when people still trusted stone to keep heat and memory alive. The Borders landscape presses around it, wind-scoured and quiet, suggesting hands that packed earth and tended flames beneath the surface. Whether the cist served kitchens, rituals or temporary shelter, it remained a place where human warmth defied the Scottish chill.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castleton Muir as Long Cist (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
