Rathpatrick church still holds the upper slab of a chest tomb carved around 1609 for Nicholas FitzThomas FitzGerald of Gurtyn and Helen Bourke. Its Latin words appear in Black Letter, marking a family that moved through Kilkenny life before Nicholas died in 1617. The stone has watched the church change while keeping their names sharp against time.
