Rathcannon in County Limerick held a burial pit where cremated animal bone survived into the Iron Age. The date places the act between 800 and 510 BC, when people were already shaping death into ritual rather than forgetting it. The pit may have marked a boundary, a gift, or a warning, but the bones remained visible enough to measure.
Described in 2007 as following; 'A pit containing cremated animal bone produced a radiocarbon date of 800-510 cal. BC' (Grogan, O’Donnell, & Johnston 2007, 302.)
