What is recorded here

You are standing at Rathcahill, County Offaly, where a hidden ditch still guards the house lawn. After 1700, the grounds were shaped to deceive the eye: cattle were kept back, yet the grass seemed to run unbroken into the countryside. The design turned a working estate into a painted view, making the boundary disappear for whoever looked out the window.
