What is recorded here
RATH in Ballyhacket Magilligan is an early Christian rath in County Derry, Ireland. The earthwork still marks a place where people lived, worshipped or defended themselves before written records reached it. Its name survives in an official point on a map, but the life inside the bank has faded into silence.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
