Cleish Castle is a 16th-century tower house built by the Colville family, who conspired against James VI before losing the property in 1775. The building fell derelict, was rebuilt in a Scots baronial style, and was later stripped back to reveal its older bones. It still stands as a private residence, carrying the danger and pride of the men who first raised its walls.
