Enclosure in Oran Beg is a small circular earth and stone bank on a Galway hillock, preserving a sealed chamber where a forgotten life may still rest. Local memory names it the fort of the fairy wind and claims a soldier sleeps inside, turning an ordinary field marker into a threshold between the living landscape and the dead. The rubble now blocking its heart does not diminish the place; it withholds the final proof and keeps the chamber available for imagination.

On a hillock in undulating pastureland. This small circular enclosure (diam. 8.2m) is defined by a bank of earth and stone. Upright boulders mark an entrance gap (Wth 1.2m) at SE. The interior is obscured by field-clearance rubble. Lynch Athy (1914, 136) recorded that the monument was known locally as ‘Lisheen na Shinawn ("fort of the fairy wind")’ and that it was said to be the burial place of a soldier.
