What is recorded here

Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or stone ringfort in Onagh, County Roscommon, Ireland. The 1837 Ordnance Survey map marked a circular embanked enclosure about forty metres across on a rise amid field walls. The site is no longer visible in the pasture, but it was probably a cashel.
Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a rise in an undulating landscape with field walls. It is not visible at ground level in pasture but it was probably a cashel. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
