Graveyard

Graveyard, Ballintemple, County Offaly is an irregular stone-walled burial ground holding a church ruin and the ghost of a missing 1603 graveslab. Two antiquarians described that slab at the century’s turn, yet it has never been found again, leaving behind a named absence rather than a monument. The place still keeps its wall, its shape and its quiet Christian memory; the vanished stone may simply be buried under grass, soil and time.
