What is recorded here

ODeas Castle stands in County Clare as a surviving tower house, its stones marked by a banqueting hall and faces still visible from every direction. It belonged to the world of local power and display, where stone walls judged distance and defiance. The hall suggests feasting, ceremony and the loud life of a house that expected guests. What is gone is the ordinary noise of that household, but the shape of the building still answers it.

ODeas Castle in Dysert, County Clare, was built by the O'Dea family, likely in the 15th or 16th century. It is remembered as an example of a defensive tower house associated with the Gaelic aristocracy of west Clare.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
