This brown commemorative plaque records: Commemorating 'the most Dreadful and Melancholy CATASTROPHE, the BLOWING UP of Nottingham Canal Company's Warehouse by 21 Barrels of Gunpowder, each containing 100 lbs. which happened on Monday, September 28th, 1818.' Recorded plaque organisation: Nottingham Civic Society.
Commemorates a major explosion in Nottingham that killed five people and caused extensive damage to the surrounding area, highlighting the dangers of industrial accidents during the early Industrial Revolution.
