The Battle of Marston Moor was fought on 2 July 1644 between the Royalist forces led by Prince Rupert and the combined Parliamentary and Scottish Covenanter armies led by Oliver Cromwell and David Leslie. The Parliamentarians achieved a decisive victory, which significantly weakened the Royalist position in the English Civil War and marked a turning point in favor of the Parliamentarians.
