Hunterston Castle is a tower house and later country home in North Ayrshire, Scotland, built for Clan Hunter after lands were granted there in the 12th century. Its old keep still rises beside a house added in a later age, while the clan has remained tied to the estate for nearly nine hundred years. The castle is also caught up in modern history, because nearby nuclear power stations later limited public access to the place.
