Sitting in the sedilia on the S wall of the chancel is the worn, round-headed tablet of Capt. William Ivory (Wth 0.37m; H 1.2m). It is in Kilkenny limestone and has a slightly raised border. The inscription, copied from Mems. Dead (1888-91, vol. 1, 255-6), reads: Heare Lyeh ye Body of Capt. Willam Ivory who departed this life in the 60th year of his age the 18th of July Anno Dom 1684. Left Ishew one son and one daughter Heare also is intered ye body of Mary Ivory ye third daughter of Sr Ivory aged one yeare and 8 months She dyed the first day of September Anno Dom 1691 Heare also is intered ye Body of Md Ann Ivory the wife of Capt. William Ivory aged 63 years and departed this life the 9th of Aprill Anno Dom 1692 Heare also is intered the Body of Sr John Ivory ye only son of Cap William Ivory who departed this life in ye 40th yaer of his age leaving ishew 2 sons and 2 daughters He dyed the 24th day of Febvary anno Dom 1694/5 This ston was placed hear by Dame Ann Ivory widow of ye said Sr John & daughter of Sir John Talbot of Laycock in Wiltshire left as a lasting Testimony of her of her former love and affection to him and his Family.
