The holy well at Mingulay is associated with Saint Moluag, a 6th-century Irish monk and missionary linked to the Pictish region of western Scotland. Traditionally, the site was visited for healing and spiritual renewal, with local folklore suggesting the water had curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin.
